Rain this week means rivers will go back up

river-watch

Area rivers had started falling but they will rise again soon.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely this week as a frontal boundary becomes nearly stationary across the Ohio Valley late Tuesday night and into Wednesday.  The National Weather Service reports that as multiple disturbances track along that front, and interact with abundant moisture…periods of rain will impact Central and Southern Indiana Tuesday night through Friday. The potential exists for up to 4 inches of rain or more.

That rain combined with a heightened threat of ice jams on area creeks and rivers…and increased runoff with the ground still thawing out, will support an increased risk of significant flooding along rivers.  The water will also affect low lying and poor drainage areas through mid to late week.
