Contested Races in Daviess County Primary Ballot

election-vote-unsplash-2-2

A fairly full ballot is shaping up for Daviess County voters heading into the May 5th primary election, especially on the Republican side. One of the main local races is for County Council District 3. Two Republicans are on the ballot there, Kip Kelley and Jacob Stephens, with the winner moving on to November. For Washington Township trustee, Republican Michelle Guy is on the ballot, while Democrat Rowdy Abbott has filed as well, meaning that race will carry over to the general election. Several county offices, including sheriff, auditor, and clerk, do not have contested primaries this year. The District 3 seat will be a new member.  Mike Myers did not seek re-election.  Tony Duncheon did not re-run for County Council. He is running for County Commissioner. Nathan Gabhart is not seeking re-election.  Duncheon is un-opposed. Phil Cornelius, former county highway superintendent, is running for Tony’s seat un-opposed for County Council.  The primary election is set for May 5th, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
