Voters in Martin County will see a limited number of contested races on the ballot for the upcoming May 5 primary election, with competition primarily on the Republican side. The most notable contested race is for Martin County Sheriff, where Republicans Jonah Shaw and Keith Keller are both seeking the nomination. The winner will advance to the general election. Another contested race is for Martin County Prosecutor, with incumbent Aureola Vincz facing a challenge from fellow Republican C. Michael Steiner. In Crane Town Council, three Republicans, incumbents Charles “CJ” Parcels Jr. and Jeffrey Clark, along with Robert Gallagher, are competing for seats. Most other county offices are uncontested, including all four Martin County Council districts, where incumbents are running unopposed, as well as the assessor and clerk races. In Shoals, Walter Holt, a Democrat, and Luke Copeland, a Republican, have filed for town council, while incumbent Tina Franklin is running unopposed for clerk-treasurer.
