A Petersburg man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecutors say 35-year-old Timothy Joseph Stelling has been charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, dealing in methamphetamine, and maintaining a common nuisance, along with a habitual offender enhancement. The charges stem from a report of gunfire near a residence in the Glezen area on May 10. Investigators say the shots were traced to a camper where Stelling was living. Authorities determined he was on parole and not allowed to possess a firearm. The following day, deputies conducted a traffic stop on State Road 57 near the Gibson County line. During the investigation, Stelling reportedly told officers he had thrown a firearm into a river and later consented to a search of his camper. Officials say the search uncovered suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and ammunition. According to court documents, Stelling also admitted to selling small amounts of methamphetamine. He was taken into custody and booked into the Pike County Jail. Prosecutors have requested an enhanced bond due to his prior criminal history. Authorities note that all charges are allegations and Stelling is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
