Ted Turner, the former owner of the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks, has died at the age of 87. Turner built his fortune in television and radio before buying the Braves in 1976 and the Hawks in 1977. Through his superstation WTBS, Turner helped turn the Braves into a national team by broadcasting their games nationwide, giving the franchise one of the largest TV audiences in baseball during that era.
Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo will skip the Preakness Stakes on May 16. Trainer Cherie DeVaux announced Wednesday the colt’s next start will instead be the Belmont Stakes on June 6.
