Knox County Approves New Solar Setback Rules

knox-5

Knox County commissioners have approved changes to the county’s solar ordinance, increasing the required setback between solar farms and nearby homes. During a packed meeting Tuesday in Vincennes, officials voted 2-1 to expand the setback from 200 feet to 300 feet. The decision followed public input from residents, with some arguing the new distance still falls short and calling for greater protections. Others spoke in support of landowners’ rights to lease their property for solar development. County leaders say additional updates to the ordinance, including safety and environmental considerations, are expected to be discussed moving forward.
