Dixie P. Foster, 83, of Washington, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Washington on July 10, 1933, to William and Rosa Mae (Brown) James.
She attended Washington High School. Dixie liked to crochet, play bingo and go shopping. She cherished spending time with her nine grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger and will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Raymond S. (Charlotte) Hudson of Indianapolis; two daughters, Lea Anne (George) Rego of Washington and Shelley A.(Leon) Rice of Washington; two stepchildren, Tonya Romans and Stacy Foster; a brother, Daniel E. James; nine grandchildren, Leon Rice Jr., Derick Rice, Brent Rego, Stephanie Balzin, George Rego Jr., Jeff Hudson, Chris Dixon, Julia Sanders and Jason Hudson; six stepgrandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Foster, whom she married Jan. 31, 1974; a son, Donald Ray Hudson; two brothers, Martin E. James and William B. James; and a sister, Vonda Pearl James.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Bro. David Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Prairie Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 801 S. SR 57, Washington, IN 47501 in Dixie’s honor.
