Speaking of track, Carmel girls won the state track and field championship marking the schools 200th state title. No success factor for a 4A school so they are in a position unlike small schools around here to not face any penalty for winning. In the boys competition, Lawrence North held on for a 47-45 victory over Bloomington North to win that title.
The Colts have announced a new ownership structure in the wake of the death of team owner Jim Irsay last month.
Irsay’s three daughters were all serving as vice-chairs of the team before their father died and all three will now have new roles while also holding the title of owners of the club.
Carlie Irsay-Gordon will succeed her father as the team’s chief executive officer. That position means that Irsay-Gordon will be serving as the principal owner of the team.
Casey Foyt will have an executive vice president title and Kalen Jackson will be the chief brand officer.
The biggest name in college basketball broadcasting is sticking to the airwaves for a few more years. Legendary broadcaster Dick Vitale signed a contract extension with ESPN through the 2027-28 season, the network announced Monday.
Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey reportedly will miss the beginning of the 2025-26 season because of surgery to repair a left ankle he reinjured during an offseason training session.
Caitlin Clark is staying on the sideline for now. The Indiana Fever guard, who has been out since May 26 with a left quad injury, will miss the Fever’s game against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday according to Indiana coach Stephanie White.
White told reporters that Clark had been limited in practice, participating in some drills but not all, and that Clark, who was set to be re-evaluated this weekend, has not been totally cleared but is “ready to start ramping back up.”
