The Daviess County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Washington deeply regret to announce that the annual Christmas parade, normally scheduled for early December has been cancelled this year. After much discussion it was decided that having the parade creates public health concerns due to the ongoing uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus in the upcoming weeks and months. The Christmas Parade has been a long-time tradition for our community and while we are very disappointed to cancel we also recognize that virtually every activity associated with it produces undue risk; from building floats and featuring bands and walking groups to simply standing on the streets watching. Overall, it is in the best interest of the citizens and community to cancel this year’s parade.
