Longtime Knox County Emergency Management Agency Director John Streeter was not reappointed to his position by the Knox County Commissioners.

A motion to re-appoint him died for lack of a 2nd during a Thursday organization meeting of the Knox County Commissioners.

The Vincennes Sun-Commercial reports the motion to reappoint was made by Commissioner Trent Hinkle, it did not receive a 2nd from Commissioner Tim Ellerman.  President of the Commissioners, Kellie Streeter, John Streeter’s wife had recused herself from the vote.

John Streeter was hosting a District 10 EMA Director’s meeting at the Knox County Sheriff’s Department at the time.  He told the newspaper the action was expected and said quote “it’s just commissioner Ellerman playing politics”.

Officials say there’ll be no disruption in services during a potential change.  Mr. Streeter says he’ll stay on the job until he’s told not to.
