A love for his hometown was one reason 26-year-old Andrew Heidenreich has filed to run for Washington City Council in District 1.

Making his formal announcement at the Daviess County Courthouse on Thursday he said he believes it’s important for the younger generation to get involved in the growth and future of Washington. He added that it’s imperative the council properly represent the diversity and needs of its current and future citizens.

Heidenreich is running as a Republican. The Council 1 seat is currently held by Mike Singleton.

Heidenreich works at IPL in Petersburg as a Control Room Operator and serves as Local Union Chairman for IBEW 1395.
