Mary Irwin Kolb Emison, 86, of Bloomington

Mary Irwin Kolb Emison, 86, of Bloomington, IN passed away December 4, 2018 after a short illness.

Mary was born August 18, 1932 in Peru, IN, daughter of Louis Leonard Kolb and Mary Irwin Gallahan. Mary graduated from Peru High School in 1950 and Indiana University in 1954 with a degree in journalism. Mary worked for Standard Oil of Indiana.

Mary married Thomas Shepard Emison, son of Tuley and Ewing Emison of Vincennes, IN, in 1955. They raised their two children, Janet Kolb Emison (Martin Robert Sinnott) and Thomas Ewing Emison (Nanju Chae Collette) in Vincennes, where they lived until 1986 when they moved to Bloomington for her husband’s position teaching at Indiana University Law School.

Mary was actively involved in the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Club, Sorosis, Bloomington Women’s Club, Tri Kappa Sorority, University Women’s Club, and Wednesday Club.

Mary is the loving grandmother of Lauren Emison Sinnott, Molly Shepard Sinnott, Isaac Kolb Sinnott, Thomas Henry Emison, and Kolby Ellen Emison.

Services will be held at 12:30 pm on January 5, 2019 at Goodwin Family Funeral Home. The Emison family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service time of 12:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grouseland Foundation.
