Michael S. McDonald, age 75, of Shoals, Indiana, passed away at his residence at 1:25 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018.

He moved from Bloomington to Shoals in 2008, and was retired from Stone Belt Freight Lines, where he worked from 1973 to 2003. He was the Director of Personnel and Safety for Stone Belt. He formerly worked for the Hoosier National Forest at Hardin Ridge.

He was born to the late G. Ermal and Edythe (Schaefer) McDonald in Bedford, Indiana, on April 8, 1943. He was never married.

Mike graduated from Bedford High School in 1959, and attended Indiana University.

He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966, and was in the Military Police. Mike was stationed in Germany, and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

While in high school, he was a member of and the Indiana State President of the DeMolay.

Mike was a member of the Shoals American Legion, Post No. 61, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 2442.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church, in Bedford.

Visitation will be at the Queen-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, in Shoals, on Friday, November 2nd, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, November 3rd, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., also at the Queen-Lee Chapel. A graveside service will follow, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Cresthaven Cemetery, located on Dixie Highway, between Bedford and Mitchell.

Bro. Matthew Sulivan will officiate at the graveside service, however, Military Rites will be accorded at the funeral home.
