George W. Anderson, 70, of Washington, passed away at 7:35 pm Friday, October 26, 2018 at his residence.
He was born July 1, 1948 in Jasper, Indiana to Granville and Thelma (Gibbs) Anderson.
George had worked in factories and most recently was a Wal-Mart associate for the past 11 years.
George was a member of the Church Alive in Petersburg for seven years. A model train enthusiast, George also enjoyed watching NASCAR, and when he was younger he enjoyed professional wrestling. Family was important to George as he loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with his Wal-Mart family also.
Surviving are his wife, Lois A. (Fair) Anderson, whom he married on February 14, 1970; his children, Jess Anderson and his wife, Brandy of Vincennes, Cindy Anderson of Bloomington, and Fay Tumey and her husband, Eric of Orleans; his grandchildren, Shawn Michael, Logan, and Elle; a brother, Richard Anderson of Washington; his sisters, Margaret “Boots” Hansen of Otwell, Lillian Parks of Otwell, Bonnie Sorguis of Seattle, WA, Claire Myers of Otwell, Vicki Matheis of Jasper, and Jeanie Toledo of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Melina Sue.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 2, 2018 at Shiloh Cemetery in Ireland with Pastor Mark Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home at 2020 State Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for his final expenses.
