Vonda G. Scott, 90, of Plainville, went home to be with her Lord on Monday.

 

 

 

 

She was born in Daviess County on Sept. 7, 1926, the daughter of Floyd and Margaret (Hart) Myers. She was a graduate of Plainville High School.
Vonda was married to Prentiss Scott and he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1995. Vonda was a bookkeeper for Myers Frozen Foods for 24 years and also worked for U.S. Rubber for eight years. Her major job was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She baked and decorated cakes for over 50 years and made her four biological great-grandchildren birthday cakes for their first birthdays. She loved farm life, family get-togethers and cooking. She was a member of the Epsom Homemakers Club and a member of the Cornettsville United Methodist Church.
Vonda is survived by her children, Howard (Judy) Scott of Jasper, James (Kelly) Scott of California, Timothy (Martha) Scott of Haden Village, New Jersey, Sandra (Kenny) Nichols of Avon, and Diana Scott of Washington; grandchildren Dustin (Emily M.) Nichols, Seth (Emily H.) Nichols, Lauren Scott and Trevor Scott; stepgrandchildren Trina (Jamie) Burton, Angie (Adam) Auvil, Lindsay Rasche and Sean Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Penny, Lyla and Tyler Nichols; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Kassie and Gage Knox, Ava and Emma Auvil, Isaac and Julian Johnson; a sister, Norma Hurley of Scottsburg; and two brothers, Richard Myers of Plainville and Nathan Myers of Washington.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Phyllis Meek and Shirley O’Hara; and brother William A. Myers.
Services for Vonda will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home, Washington Chapel, with Gwen Pew officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.
