The FBI and other police agencies searched a property in Martinsville Thursday and it’s connected to the disappearance of I.U. student Lauren Spierer in June of 2011. The property on Old Morgantown Road is the home of 35-year-old Justin Matthew Wagers, a registered sex offender with a long criminal history. He’s already in the Morgan County Jail where he has been since his arrest in Greenwood for indecent exposure. Investigators sifted through dirt dug up on the property, an apparent search for skeletal remains. A pickup truck was impounded. The vehicle was removed on a flatbed for processing. Bloomington Police have received at least 2,500 tips in the Spierer case.

“No other information will be released other than confirmation that the Bloomington Police Department was the agency involved in Morgan County as previously reported by various media outlets,” read a statement from Bloomington Police.

“Mr. Wagers has no knowledge regarding the disappearance of Lauren Spierer or any other missing person. The family has no further comment at this time and asks that the media respect their privacy,” read a statement from Wagers’ attorney.
