Local Arrest for Possesion; Vandalism to a Vehicle; Attempted Theft from a Dept. Store

-A Washington Police investigation resulted in a possession arrest on Wednesday.  54-year-old Jefferey Brown of Washington was jailed for Possession of Meth, Marijuana, a Syringe and Paraphernalia.  He’s also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

-A resident on Dewey Avenue told authorities at 8-am yesterday her vehicle had been spray painted and three tires were slashed.  Police are investigating.

-A driver parked a vehicle on a lot in a parking lot by the Lighthouse yesterday at just after 11.  The motorist thought the car was in park and it was not.  It rolled back and hit another parked car.

-No injuries when a semi turning off of East National Highway onto 257 and hit a van at the stoplight facing North. That happened at about 1:30 yesterday.

-At just after 6 last night it was reported that subjects took a $100 baby toy and bags of other items and tried to go out the door at Wal Mart. They did not have a receipt when the greeter asked for it.  They went back in and then out another door.   After an investigation the items were recovered less than an hour later.

-At about 8:20 last night, a motorist drove off from Chuckles on Northeast 5th without paying for $20 in gasoline.
