Richard L. Martin passed away at 8:40 PM on August 24, 2020 at Emerald Place. Richard was born to Gideon and Edith (Peach) Martin on October 16,1928. He married Mary Jean Biddinger on October 16,1948.
Richard was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School and also a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a lineman for Public Service, Duke energy. He also enjoyed golfing and on May 26, 1974 he had a hole in one! He served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include daughters, Kathleen Hammersley and her husband Terry and Elizabeth Brand. His niece Melonie Banks who has been there for him the last years of his life, grandchildren, Caroline Callahan and her husband Manuel Gonzalez, Ryan Callahan and his wife Romica Prasad and Emily Brand and her husband Cory Lewellen. Richard is also survived by several sister and brother-in-law’s and several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and six siblings, Wilma Leonard, Robert Martin, James Martin, Mary Feak, William Martin, and Daniel Martin.
Richard wishes were to be cremated and he will be laid to rest with his wife in Sugarland Memory Gardens. No public service will be held and Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, Washington is honored to assist the Martin family with arrangements.
