At South Knox, Linton defeated South Knox 3 to zip, while North Knox advanced with a 3 to nothing win over Eastern Greene in game two. Linton faces North Knox in game one tonight, while Sullivan plays Southridge in game two.
The Girls Tennis Regionals are set for tonight at Jasper. Loogootee will play Jasper and Bloomfield will face off with unbeaten Washington. The two winners play for the regional championship tomorrow at Jasper.
Baseball last night, the Barr Reeve Vikings defeated Eastern Greene 17 to 4. Keyshawn Graber went the distance for the win, while Chase Graber went 3 for 4 at the plate with four RBI’s including a home run.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 Monday night at Guaranteed Rate Field in a battle of Central Division leaders. Former Cardinal Lance Lynn took a no-hitter into the sixth, and ended with seven one-run innings. In Detroit, Cleveland’s Jordan Luplow made a diving catch to help the Indians hold on to a 6-5 win over the Detroit Tigers. Indiana football received a transfer commitment from Texas A&M wide receiver Camron Buckley Monday. The 6-foot-2, 190 pounder has 62 career receptions for 877 yards and four touchdowns. Buckley missed 2020 due to injury, and is immediately eligible to play at IU. He caught 34 passes for 474 yards and a touchdown in 2018. Buckley is the eighth player to transfer to the Hoosiers since the end of last season. Coach Tom Allen has gotten players from programs such as USC, Michigan, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida State, and now Texas A&M.
A pair of Indianapolis Colts legends will be honored at a home game this season. Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James will receive their Pro Football Hall of Fame rings at Lucas Oil Stadium September 19th when the Colts host the Los Angeles Rams. James was selected for the Hall’s 2020 class, while Manning will be inducted with the Class of 2021. Both will be officially inducted this August after the 2020 ceremony was canceled.
