Washington Community Schools is notifying the public about a planned emergency response training exercise scheduled for May 27 at Washington Junior/Senior High School. School officials say police officers, firefighters, emergency vehicles and first responders will be at the school beginning at 5 p.m. as part of a coordinated active shooter drill involving local emergency agencies and neighboring school districts. Officials emphasized the exercise is only a training event and there is no threat to the public. No students will participate in the drill, with involvement limited to adult volunteers.
