Girl’s basketball
The Washington Lady Hatchets traveled to Corydon last night to kick off the Battle of the First Capital Tournament. Washington opened with a win over Vincennes Rivet 50-23. Katie Reed hit five three pointers and finished with 21 points to pace the Hatchets. The Lady Hatchets will now face Evansville Central today in round 2 as Central opened with a win over New Albany 65-38. Washington and Central will tip off at noon today on Memories 107.9. Other scores from the tourney yesterday, Borden defeated Crawford County 54-32. Corydon Central topped Rock Creek Academy 65-36.
In other games, South Knox defeated Pike Central 73-9.
Vincennes Lincoln is at Mater Dei today at 7:30.
