Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corp. and Discord Inc., alleging the companies failed to adequately protect children from online predators. The lawsuit claims both platforms have been used by offenders to contact and groom minors, including in the case of 17-year-old Indiana native Hailey Buzbee, who was allegedly lured through interactions on Roblox and Discord before her death earlier this year. Rokita argues the companies misrepresented their platforms as safe for children, calling it a violation of Indiana’s Deceptive Consumer Sales Act. The lawsuit seeks to stop harmful practices, recover profits, and impose civil penalties. State officials say similar cases involving these platforms have occurred nationwide, and they are urging Hoosiers to report suspicious activity or online exploitation to the Attorney General’s office.
