Bonnie Jean Dye

Bonnie Jean Dye, 92, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday April 30, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on November 7, 1933, in Mitchell, Indiana to Clovis and Lois (Mundy) Barnes.

Bonnie married Rama Dye Jr. on February 18, 1952. They spent 62 special years together before he passed away on August 13, 2014.

Bonnie was a faithful and devoted member of Loogootee Christian Church, where she worshipped since 1965. Her faith remained a steady and guiding presence throughout her life.

She took great pride in caring for others, spending many years babysitting and helping raise countless children in the community. Through her kindness, patience, and nurturing spirit, she became a “grandma” to many, leaving a lasting impact on the lives she touched.

Bonnie enjoyed crocheting and found great joy in spending time with her children and family. She often expressed how deeply she loved them, never missing an opportunity to remind them of how much they meant to her.

She also had a love for travel and the outdoors, camping in state parks for over 50 years. Whether close to home or on the road, she cherished making memories with her family.

Bonnie will be remembered for her happy, fun-loving personality and her enthusiasm for life. She was always the one to suggest “let’s do something exciting!”, bringing her family together for laughter and adventure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clovis and Lois Barnes, her husband, Rama Dye Jr. and her daughter in law, Karen Dye.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Darrel (Terri) Dye, Ramaetta “Jeanie” Dye, Debbie Dye, Richard (Julie) Dye, her grandchildren, Lance Dye, Daniel Petry, Andrew Petry, great- grandchildren, Lillian and Olivia Petry.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2026, at 11:00 A.M at Loogootee Christian Church with Preacher Ed Frost (whom Bonnie always referred to as “My Preacher”) to officiate. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday May 4, 2026, from 3:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana.
