Donald Richard Norris, 66, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away at 5:21 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

He was born November 1, 1956 in Jasper, Indiana to the late Donald Louis and Bettye F. Norris.

Rick started pumping gas at the age of 14 for Sinclair Gas Station. From that day on, he never stopped working. Rick graduated from Loogootee High School in 1974. He wore many hats throughout his life. He owned and operated Norris Landscaping for 22 years. Rick also was the Maintenance Supervisor at Southwind Manor for 22 years. Before Rick’s career in law enforcement, he worked for the Martin County Highway Department for 22 years. He retired in 2019 from the Loogootee Police Department at the rank of Sergeant, a job he had for 21 years. Rick was a member of the Loogootee City Council for a total of 12 years.

In Rick’s free time (if he had any), he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing euchre. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Fraternal Order of Police – Lodge 101.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Louis and Bettye F. Norris; grandparents, Walter and Georgia Norris and Raymond and Agnes Allegree.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Connie (McCameron) Norris of Loogootee; siblings, Mary Beth (Doug) Ranard of Dugger, Mike (Sandy) Norris of Loogootee, and Phillip Norris (Karen Wilson) of Loogootee; uncle, Richard Allegree of Oxford, Ohio; niece, Amy (Ryan) Graber; nephew, Michael Norris; great-nieces and great-nephew, Taylen, Keely, and Carson Graber.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
