Arrest Made After Child’s Accidental Shooting: Woman in Jail with Drug Discovery

A woman has been arrested and placed in jail following an incident where a child, under her supervision, accidentally shot himself in the head. The incident took place on Wednesday evening at approximately 6 o’clock on Independence Avenue in Evansville. According to Porsha Walker, she arrived home to discover a gun inside a box in her yard. Upon bringing the firearm inside, it is believed that the child gained access to it, resulting in the accidental shooting. During a search of the residence, law enforcement officers discovered marijuana and methamphetamine. As a result, Walker was taken into custody, and her other children were placed under the care of child services. Police report that the three-year-old child sustained injuries that are not life-threatening.
