The Vincennes Police Department swiftly responded to reports of gunshots fired near Lester Square on May 18, 2023. An investigation revealed that shots were discharged from a vehicle at the intersection of 9th and Church. No injuries were reported. With the help of witnesses and evidence, the police identified and apprehended a juvenile suspect, who was placed in custody at the Southwest Indiana Regional Youth Village. On May 23, 2023, another juvenile connected to the incident was also arrested and placed at the same facility. The Vincennes Police Department appreciates the community’s cooperation in providing witness statements. Assisting agencies include the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit, the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office, and Knox County Probation.
