A developer from Washington recently approached the Vincennes Redevelopment Commission (RDC) with a housing project proposal near Kohl’s in Vincennes.

During Thursday’s RDC meeting, Ross Wade from RJ Community Builders presented a plan to construct a 208-unit complex situated behind the department store

Wade stated that the project was in response to a recent Request for Proposals issued by the city and RDC, aimed at attracting more housing developers to the area.

Several steps and challenges lie ahead before the project can commence, including the need to re-TIF the current TIF (Tax Increment Financing) zone in the vicinity and to rezone the area from commercial to residential.

Additionally, Wade mentioned that seeking tax abatement would be part of the project plan, and he still needs to work on securing certain agreements with Kohl’s.

No immediate action was taken on the proposal during the meeting, but further discussions are expected in the future regarding this potential housing project near Kohl’s in Vincennes.
