Early this morning, Jasper police arrested Steven Furnish on charges of domestic battery and strangulation at Vine Street Lofts. Officers were dispatched to the apartment building at 12:14 a.m. following reports of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the complainant and discovered that the male subject had battered and strangled his spouse. The suspect was transported to Memorial for a mental health evaluation and later charged with domestic battery and strangulation. He is currently being held at the Dubois County Security Center after undergoing a medical evaluation.
