James “Jim” William Doane, 73, of Vincennes, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

Jim was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on October 27, 1948 to the late Orville Dale Doane and Mary Elizabeth (Gall) Doane.

Jim retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years and was a courier for the First Vincennes Savings Bank. He was a devout Christian who attended Vincennes First Baptist Church. Throughout his life, Jim had a passion for music; he enjoyed writing his own music, singing both country and religious songs, and loved playing guitar with friends and family. He played golf, was an avid IU basketball fan, and enjoyed watching his other favorite teams: the Colts and the Cardinals. Jim was a friend to all, always ready to lend a hand to those in need, and was a devoted and loving family man.

Jim is survived by; his wife of 50 years, Mary Kathryn (Pharris) Doane, his loving children, Neil Doane (Lisa) of Longmont, Colorado, Jason Doane (Brittany Masterson) of Princeton; three grandchildren, Gavyn Doane, Gabe Doane, and Willow Hill; siblings, Thomas Doane (Judy) of Oaktown, David Doane (Vicki) of Vincennes, and Becky Cullen (Dave) of Bicknell.

He was preceded in death by; father, Orville Dale Doane; mother, Mary Elizabeth Doane; and an  infant brother, Earl James Doane.

Visitation will be at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Homes, Vincennes Chapel 313 Church Street on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a service following on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at First Baptist Church 2625 Wabash Ave. Vincennes, IN 47591 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
