A southern Indiana double homicide led to a police chase yesterday.
New Albany Police were called to the Circle K at Grant Line Road and Beechwood on a shooting run, arriving to find a man and woman fatally wounded and a red SUV fleeing the scene.
The chase ended a couple of miles away on Charlestown Road at The Onion restaurant where the suspect took a woman hostage at gunpoint, forcing her into a car.
The unidentified suspect drove toward police and that’s when they shot him.
The man was taken into custody and then to University Hospital.
Indiana State Police says the women was out of the car before officers opened fired, but it remains unclear if she escaped on her own or was pushed out.
