Hwy 61 Project in Petersburg Moving Along

The reconstruction project on Highway 61 in Petersburg is moving along.
According to the Press Dispatch, INDOT says they hope to have the first phase of the projected completed by Thanksgiving.
Phase One encompasses the roadway from Main Street to Harvest Lane. The road has been closed since July with traffic redirected through 7th Street.
Since then, crews have removed the old road and put down a new road base. They have also added new curbs, sidewalks, infrastructure, and are currently working on layers of paving. Phase One was originally slated for an October Completion, however, several delays stalled areas of the project.
Once Phase One is completed, crews will immediately begin Phase Two. Phase Two will encompass the end of Phase One at Harvest Lane to 7th Street.
The overall project was expected to be completed by July of 2022; however, delays may push that date back even further.
