Robert Joseph Like, 57, of Bloomington, IN, passed away after a short illness in I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital at noon on October 3, 2021.
He was born on May 22, 1964, in Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN, to Patty J. (Mathews) Like & Robert W. Like, both of Vincennes and both of whom preceded him in death. He was the grandson of the late Opal M. (Staley) Mathews and the late Elzie R. Mathews to whom he was very close. He is survived by two older sisters, Pamela J Like and Tamela J. Like, both of Bloomington; two older brothers, Danny A. Like of Orlando, FL and his wife, Sherry (Skipworth) Like, and David W. Like of Bloomington; two nieces, Jennifer N. (Like) Krohn and her husband Tim Krohn, and Jacqueline J. (Like) Palmer and her husband Travis Palmer, and one grandniece, Sophia N. Krohn, all of the Orlando area; as well as numerous cousins.
Bobby was raised in Vincennes & attended Special Education classes in the Vincennes Public School system, afterwards working for Speedy. He excelled at and won numerous medals in the Special Olympics. He lived with his sister Pam & the late Gabriel Dimino in East Boston, MA happily for many years in the middle of his life. Bobby loved classic rock music, eating out, playing and watching basketball, and was quite a good cook. His sense of humor, good will and cheer will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery, 919 Willow St., Vincennes, IN on Wednesday, October 27, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that anyone wishing to honor Bobby’s life should please make a donation in his name to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, an A+ rated charity at nami.org.
