Monroe City Fall Festival kicks off tonight

The 22nd annual Monroe City Fall Festival will be held this weekend.
The event will be held at the historic Blue Jeans Center with activities set to get underway this evening at 5:00 pm.
Saturday will feature a Whiffle Ball Tournament, Cow Muck Cookers BBQ, Pet Parade, and Live Entertainment. It will also feature the all-new Beer Garden.
In addition, Saturday will feature a building dedication. The basketball pavilion will be named in honor of Sam and Sharon Alford. The ceremony will take place at approximately 6:00 pm at the Blue Jeans Center. Sam Alford was the last basketball coach of the former Monroe City High School in the 1967 season, leading the Blue Jeans to a 22-3 record, which included a 20-game winning streak and a championship in the famed Wabash Valley Tourney.
Events wrap up Sunday and will begin at 10:00 am with a community church service followed by a fish fry at 11:00 am. The parade takes place at 2:00 pm with a concert by the South Knox Band and other live musical performances.
The event is free and open o the public.
