Following last night’s City Council meeting, Washington’s Board of Works and Safety met and accepted a bid to sell the City’s old 2008 bus.
The Council also approved street closures from Victory Church and the Catholic Community of Washington.
The board, however, removed the half block on NE 1st Street from the First Baptist parking lot to Hefron Street from the proposal.
Officials also reported that lining of the newly reconstructed areas of East National Highway should be competed this week.
The traffic light at Meridian Street will also be activated so traffic on the new road can get used to the signal before the Meridian Street intersection is completely opened.
Jerry Sidebottom also told the Council that Heaven’s Kitchen would be reopening although social distancing will be required.
Also, Mayor Rhoads announced that the city will lift its mask mandate in most city offices, but the Mayor said that if the county’s COVID level goes back up, the mandate could be reimposed.
