Local officials hold ceremony to recognize fallen officers

It’s National Police Week which honors officers who have fallen or been disabled in the line of duty.
Yesterday, a ceremony was held at the Daviess County Court House honoring these officers.
Mayor Dave Rhoads says that Law Enforcement is very important to the local community…

During the ceremony, Daviess County Sheriff Gary Allison reported they recently learned of two officers who had been killed in the line of duty in Daviess County…

Officials say they hope to have the names of those officers up at the Memorials by next summer.
Towards the end of the Ceremony, officers announced the recipient of their annual scholarship award.
The scholarship is awarded each year to those perusing a career in Law Enforcement.
This year, it was awarded to Emma Williams – daughter of retired police officer Don Williams.
