Daniel Louis Worland, 88, of Vincennes, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at his residence.

He was born July 6, 1932 in Vincennes, Indiana to Raymond Daniel and Mary Theresa “Mamie” Halter.

Daniel’s wife Wanda Louise (Kolehouse) Worland passed away April 12, 2020. He was a 1950 graduate of Wheatland High School Class and studied at St. Meinrad for a short time. Dan served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a mechanic at Miller Construction, Mack Garage, and Stangle Elevator until he found his true love of farming and raising livestock. Daniel and Wanda moved to the family farm in 1960. Dan was a Crow’s / Channel seed corn dealer, where him and Wanda enjoyed many trips for meetings. Dan won many awards for his farming techniques.

Dan loved his Fourth of July weekend birthday parties, and Sunday family dinner. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, a man of God, his faith and family were utmost importance. Praying the Rosary was his daily ritual and attending Mass every chance possible.  His memberships included St. Thomas Catholic Church (St. Francis Xavier Parish), St. Thomas Men’s Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Dan’s favorite sayings: For all sad words of tongue and pen. The saddest are these, “It might have been”, John Greenleaf Whittier and his other favorite thing to say was “An Young Ha Say Yo”.

Survivors include his children Marquita Branson of Vincennes, Philip (Becky) Worland of San Jose, CA, Greg (Kellee) Worland of Vincennes, Andy (Mary) of Vincennes, Mary Lou (Todd) McClung, Sam (Dana) Worland of Vincennes, Joe (Melissa) Worland of Santa Ana, CA, Pat (Beth) Worland, Susan (Richard) Miller of Vincennes, Melinda (Richard) Sloan of Evansville; his 30 grandchildren, Danielle (Brian) Lakin, Jennifer (Eric) Shearer, Derek Hedge, Elisa Worland, Josh (Stephanie) Worland, Jared Worland, Jonathan (Brianna) Worland, Jason (Coral) Worland, Morgan (Ian) Frink, Makenzie Harrison, Brad (Ashley) Clark, Kayley Brian, Brandon Brian, Dominic McClung, Ellie McClung, Olivia Worland, Lexi Worland, Whittaker Worland, Wiley Worland, Brianna Worland, Hillary (Josh) Trotter, Hannah (Brandon) Groves, Racheal (Curtis) Bouchie, William Miller, Daniel Miller, Emily Miller, Christopher Sloan, Ben Sloan, Alec Sloan, Caroline Sloan; 14 great grandchildren, Eloise Lakin, Landon Shearer, Griffin Shearer, Maverick Shearer, Luke Worland, Kate Worland, Jaxon Worland, Braden Clark, Blake Clark, Kaden Trotter, Kegan Trotter, Rhlynn Groves, Remi Groves, Clark Bouchie, and one on the way ; brothers, Olan Worland, Earl “Butch” (Gloria) Worland Steve (Ann) Worland, Jerry (Janet) Worland; sisters, Rose Marie (Marvin) Kormann, Sue (George) Vash; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife Wanda (Kolehouse) Worland whom he married on December 26, 1953; a daughter Rose Marie Brian; a son Carl Worland; two grandchildren Justin Utt and Alaina Worland; a great grandchild Emerson Lakin; his brothers, James Worland, Paul (Margie) Worland, and Bob Worland; and a sister Jeanie Mullens.

A Mass of Christin Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 14, 20201 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. Tony Ernst officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Francis Xavier Parish, St. Meinrad Archabbey, or the Rose Marie Brian Scholarship Fund.
