The Daviess County Council met on Wednesday for their monthly meeting. This was the last regular scheduled meeting for 2020. During the meeting the council approved the Daviess County Airports request to move forward with a runway extension. They also renewed several county appointments. In addition, the council passed a resolution to move forward with the Bennington Levee repairs with costs not to exceed $200,000. The Bennington Levee committee was requesting money to purchase a consistent power source for the levee as it has had several electrical issues throughout the years. The Bennington Levee will pay back the amount, in addition to what they already owe the county, over the next few years. The council also heard from the highway department about the West Street Project in Odon. The council agreed to allow the highway department to move forward with a partnership with Odon to secure funding for the project. The project would be largely federally reimbursed with Odon and Daviess County paying $750,000 each. The overall project would cost about $8 million.
