The commissioners met for their regular session on Tuesday. Phil Cornelius with the highway department provided project updates and stated that the 2020 paving projects have went very well. The commissioners also wrote a letter of support to the highway department for the proposed West Street Project in Odon that would expand the road from Park to Maple Street. If approved for federal funding, the project would cost Odon and Daviess County $750,000 each. The motion would also put a no trucks sign on the road once the project in completed. President of the Board, Nathan Gabhart also expressed interest in stripping some of the high impact county roads. He asked the highway department to look into this and select a county road to possibly stripe and monitor for change.

The commissioners also approved a motion to not increase the $75 dollar buggy pate fee. They stated they were seeing less non-plated buggies on the road and that there was no need to increase the fee at this time. There was also some discussion on the Safety Awareness COVID Grant. The grant is reimbursable and funds COVID-19 awareness advertising. The county was looking to purchase two signs, but ran into an issue when there was no appropriation fund to use. After much discussion, the commissioners passed a motion to pay for the signs out of the most applicable funds. Towards the end of the meeting, the commissioners approved several new community corrections appointments and renewed several others.
