Hugh A. Eskew, 85, of Petersburg, passed away September 14, 2020 at his residence. He was born September 4, 1935 to Paul and Genevieve Eskew in Gibson County. He was an avid quail hunter. His hobbies included wood working, antique tractors, and mechanical work. He worked as a school teacher at the old Bowman school and for Old Ben Mine. Hugh also worked as a banker at Citizen State Bank and the Pike County Bank in Petersburg. He served as a Director at Farm Bureau and Officer and Director of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce.

Hugh is survived by his wife, Madge Eskew of Petersburg; daughter, Sue (Greg) Cook of Petersburg; son in law, Val Fleig of Petersburg; grandchildren, Daniel Fleig, Amanda Cook, John Fleig, Elizabeth Weyer, Nicholas Cook and Michael Cook; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Paula Nossett of Maryland; and niece, Nancy Weed. He is preceded in death by his son, Bradley Eskew; daughter, Sandra Fleig; and his parents.

Services for Hugh will take place at 1 PM EST on Friday, September 18, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Petersburg. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 1 PM EST on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Pastor Mike Punke will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pike County Community Foundation and may be mailed to PO Box 587 Petersburg, IN 47567. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
