Sahara dust prompts air quality alert

An Air Quality Alert is in effect today and tomorrow. The alert was issued by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management because of the Sahara Dust Cloud that has blown across the Atlantic from Africa and has been affecting the air quality in the US.
The cloud is reaching Indiana this weekend and contains microscopic dust, liquid and smoke particles. The dust can affect sensitive groups including children, the elderly and anyone with heart or lung issues. IDEM recommends that we all avoid heavy work outdoors, burning wood in fireplaces or boilers, avoid using gas powered law equipment or recreational vehicles and conserve energy.
