Jonathan Cody Sutton, 38, of Monroe City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

The son of Tim and Judy (Small) Sutton, he was born January 22, 1982 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Cody graduated from South Knox High School, Vincennes University, and University of Southern Indiana with a degree in Business and a degree in Economics and History Education. 

Cody loved farming and was especially passionate for conservation farming and owned Cody Sutton Farms LLC where his Dad helped him with his planting and harvesting. He also farmed with his Uncle Ron Small whom he dearly loved. 

Cody held memberships in the Harmony Society, USI Historical Society, Bruceville Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Wabash Community Church, and Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed studying the Bible and talking with Pastor Dale Biehl about various Scriptures.

Cody won the Knox County Soil and Water Conservation District “Conservation Farmer of the Year” in 2017. He was so proud of this recognition and gave an eloquent speech at the banquet and practiced conversation in all his farming.

Cody is survived by his parents, Tim and Judy Sutton of Monroe City; his aunts and uncles, Ron and Carolyn Small of Monroe City, Todd and Theresa Sutton of Indianapolis; his extended family Tim and Deanna Teal and Madeline of Atlanta, Indiana, Paula Schwartz of Carmel, Glen Schwartz of Noblesville, Steve and Lori Schwartz of Noblesville, several cousins and many close friends. Cody also has three German Shepard dogs that he loved, Digger, Annabelle, and Jed who rode with him all around his farm.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents L. Boyd and Goldie Small, Bill and Dona Sutton, and his aunt and uncle, Roger and Jane Small. 

Cody lived a short life in years, but he loved his family, friends, and farming. He will be sorely missed by all.

A public drive thru visitation will be held Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 2620 Wabash Ave. in Vincennes. Private graveside services will follow in the Hamline Chapel Cemetery with Dale Biehl officiating.  Anyone wanting to watch the service can do so on Goodwin Funeral Home Facebook page and will be notified when it goes live.
