
New announcements came down from the city of Washington on Tuesday concerning COVID-19 plans and procedures.
The Mayor’s office said they considering the current situation it’s important to keep attendance at public meetings as minimal as possible. Mayor Dave Rhoads is asking anyone who wants to appear before the City Council or Board of Public Works and Safety to call his office to be placed on the agenda. That number is 812-254-5575. He reminds citizens that the meetings are streamed live on the Washington High School Radio and TV class YouTube channel which is WHSH Broadcasting
Meanwhile, the City of Washington Transit System says they are continuing with service as no federal mandate had been received to stop it. They do ask that riders limit rides to essential needs travel only. If your sick don’t ride, but if you must, wear a mask. Transit Manager Bryan Sergesketter says that in the interest of public health and safety he has implemented a daily bus rotation. Every day a freshly cleaned disinfected bus is put into service.
Also, restrictions are now in place at city utility offices. Lobbies of those offices are closed through April 6th. Customers should make payments by credit card online or on the phone or at the drop boxes at the Eastside Park offices or outside the Police Station.
