Area schools and communities are working to keep school kids fed while they are out of school due to COVID-19 concerns.  Many times, the school meal is the best or only meal of the day for some students.

The Washington Times Herald says a thousand students were served Monday to Washington Community students.   Those were five-day breakfast and lunches equal about 10,000 meals.

Monday 140 students were served at North Daviess.  Barr-Reeve families in need of meals should contact the school.

Meanwhile in Pike County, breakfast and lunch are available for pick up starting today and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Places for pick up there from 11 to 1 include the back drive of Petersburg Elementary, White River Chapel in Bowman, Glezen Revival Center,  The Pike County School Learning Center in Otwell, the Velpen Post Office, Spurgeon Park, the Stendal Community Center and Winslow Elementary.
