John Elmer Wagler, 74, of Loogootee, passed away at 6:21 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at his home.
He was born on May 17, 1945 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Fred D. and Martha (Graber) Wagler.
Elmer was a member of Providence Mennonite Church.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Carolyn Kay Wagler; son, Bradley Wagler; grandson, Brandon Wagler; brother-in-law, Elmer Knepp.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Gingerich) Wagler; sons, Randy (Marla) Wagler and Nolan (Lynn) Wagler, both of Loogootee; step-children, Janet (Brian) Bechtel of Crawfordsville, Marilyn (Kelly) McCullough of Washington and Doug (Tina) Wagler of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Megan, Jacob and Maranda Wagler and Kaylynn, Hayden and Madisyn Wagler; step-grandchildren, Brandon McCullough, Kaylee (Trey) Ramsey, Darren (Kylie) Bechtel, Dalton (Morgan) Bechtel, Abby and Olivia Wagler; 4 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Fannie Knepp, Ervin (Mary) Wagler, Clara (Alva) Yoder, Fred (Rita) Wagler, Laura (Don) Swartzentruber, Rudy Wagler and Jeannie (Mike) Guinn; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2020, at Providence Mennonite Church in Montgomery. Burial will follow in Berea Mennonite Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Providence Mennonite Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Barr-Reeve High School Scholarship Foundation in memory of Brandon Wagler.
