It was this week 39 years ago when 51-year-old Sarah “Jeanette” Benson was murdered by an intruder in her home.
She had just returned home to Sullivan County after a Terre Haute shopping trip on January 2nd 1981 when she was surprised by her killer.
Anyone with any information the crime is being asked to contact Indiana State Police or the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department. One piece of information police are still looking into is a report from neighbors of a blue 4 door passenger car parked in Benson’s driveway before she came home.
