Evansville man leads state police on a chase

        Indiana State Police were involved in a chase overnight down in Warrick County.
        They report that at 9:25 local time they learned that 23-year-old Levi Martin of Evansville was possibly trying to commit suicide in the Blue Grass area south of Elberfeld.   They found his vehicle and when a trooper stopped it, the car, driven by Martin took off getting up to 80 miles an hour.  A chase took place through several rural roads until Martin went off the road and hit a utility pole.
        Martin was ordered out of the vehicle but refused. A State Police K9 unit was deployed to apprehend Martin.  Martin hit the police dog with the car door. A trooper then approached and tased Martin and took him into custody.  
        Martin was taken to a hospital and treated for some injuries and then taken to the Warrick County Jail. Alcohol was found in the vehicle.
        Martin is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.
