Cecil Ira Petty arrived at his heavenly home on September 19, 2019 at his home.

He was born May 29, 1933 in Epson, IN to Ernest and Ines (Chestnut) Petty. He attended Glendale and Montgomery High School graduating in 1952. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He wed his childhood sweetheart Joyce (Wallace) Petty on September 10, 1952 and she survives.

Cecil was a devout Christian and a member of the Bethany Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday Schools Superintendent and treasurer for several years. He also worked as Branch Manager for Farm Bureau Co-op, Montgomery Grain and Feed, Big Blue and Orscheln. Cecil was also an avid IU basketball fan.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Petty; son, Frank Petty and his wife Cynthia of Elnora and daughter Brenda Corrie and her husband Larry of Washington. Cecil was blessed with three grandchildren, Ryan Petty and his wife Lori of Orleans, Rachel Blythe of Washington and Sara Carley and her husband Shane of Carpentaria, CA. Along with six great grandchildren, Braeden, Reece, and Kellen Petty, Garth Perkins, Hunter Parks and Margot Carley. Two sisters, Carolyn Whitehouse and her husband Frank of Petersburg and Anna Lou Chapman and her husband Terry of Washington also survive, along with many nephews and nieces.  Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dale, Alvin, Lester and Robert Petty.

Friends may visit with Cecil’s family from 4-8 pm on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street. Cecil’s funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor’s Tom Watson and Jason Denton officiating. Cecil will be laid to rest in Bethany Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 415 E. 6th Street, Jasper, IN 47546.
