Middle School Building project referendum petition drive continues

The Washington Community School Corporation is working to get a referendum on the November Municipal Election Ballot for school patrons to vote for or against a tax increase and capping the cost of a school building project.

Before that referendum can be put on the ballot, patrons have to approve putting it on the ballot.  500 signatures are needed to get that done.  School Superintendent Dr. Dan Roach says they want the 500 or more by today…

Petitions are available at the school administration office at Griffith Elementary and the Junior High Gate 8.  If you can’t be at the locations call 812-254-5536 to have a petition brought to you.

The corporation is proposing a 34 million dollar middle school for grades 5 to 8, including a field house and football field…

Signing the petition does not say you are in favor of building the school. It’s only to get the issue on a referendum for patrons to vote on it on the November election ballot.
