State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) is among 37 lawmakers who will participate in a leadership program analyzing public policy issues such as the economy, trade and health care policy.

Lindauer will meet with lawmakers from 10 other Midwestern states and four Canadian provinces August 9-13 for The Council of State Governments’ 25th annual Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development.

“Sharing my experiences and learning from leaders across the Midwest during the Bowhay leadership institute will help me better serve our area and our state,” Lindauer said. “State governments have benefited greatly from the skills their members have gained during this opportunity, and I look forward to bringing what I learn back with me to Indiana.”

As part of The Council of State Governments’ Midwestern Office, the 2019 BILLD program will be held in partnership with the Center for the Study of Governance and Politics at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. In addition to curriculum designed to develop leadership skills, the program analyzes a variety of public policy issues, including the economy, trade and health care policy.

The Council of State Governments is a national, nonpartisan organization advancing state government by providing research assistance, professional development opportunities, interstate consulting services and educational networking opportunities.
