After over a year of listening to residents, faculty members, and patrons about how to deal with the chronic overcrowding in Washington’s schools, the Washington School Board will conduct two hearings concerning the proposed 2020 Safety and Security Construction Project.  Washington is one of the few “growing” school systems in Indiana, and area leaders are concerned that the already crowded schools will face major problems with economic expansion beginning along the I-69 corridor.     The proposed project includes safety, security, and efficiency improvements a schools throughout the district, and the construction of a new middle school building.   The first hearing, during which the Board will listen to public comments about the proposed project is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20.   The second meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 24.    Both meetings will be held at the Washington High School Auditorium.
